Medical bill review & negotiation

Your medical bill may not be the final word.

Medical bills often contain errors, and many providers will lower what you owe if someone asks the right way. Negotiate Bill reviews your bill line by line and negotiates with the provider on your behalf.

  • No upfront fees
  • Only pay if we save you money
  • Real people do the negotiating

How it works

Four steps. You stay in control the whole time, and we never agree to anything on your behalf without your approval.

  1. Send us your bill

Share your itemized bill and any insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB). Don't have an itemized bill? We'll tell you how to request one.

  2. We review it

Our team goes through every line, using software tools to help flag possible errors, overcharges, and savings opportunities.

  3. We negotiate

A member of our team contacts the provider's billing office, disputes errors, and asks for reductions or assistance you may qualify for.

  4. You save

We bring you the result. If we lowered your bill, you pay a share of the savings. If we didn't, you owe us nothing.

What we look for

Every bill is different. These are the main areas we check.

  • Billing errors & duplicate charges

Services charged twice, items you didn't receive, incorrect quantities, or codes that don't match the care you got.

  • Charity care & financial assistance

Nonprofit hospitals are required to have financial assistance policies, and many patients qualify without knowing it. We check whether you might.

  • Prompt-pay discounts

Some providers will reduce a balance if it's paid in full or quickly. We ask about it so you don't leave a discount on the table.

  • Medicare-rate benchmarks

We compare your charges with what Medicare pays for the same services, which gives us a reference point when asking for a fair price.

  • No Surprises Act protections

Federal rules protect many patients from certain surprise out-of-network bills and give uninsured patients rights to good faith estimates. We check whether they apply to you.

Only pay if we save you money

No upfront fees and no subscription. If we reduce your bill, our fee is a percentage of the amount we save you. If we can't lower it, you pay nothing.

  • No upfront or sign-up fees
  • Our fee is based only on money actually saved
  • You approve any agreement before it's final

[XX]%

of what we save you

Example: if we lower a bill by $1,000, you'd pay [XX]% of that $1,000. Nothing if we save $0.

Frequently asked questions

Can you guarantee you'll lower my bill?

No. Some bills are already accurate and fairly priced, and some providers won't negotiate. We'll be honest with you about what we find. If we don't save you money, you don't pay us.

What kinds of bills can you help with?

Hospital, emergency room, surgery, lab, imaging, ambulance, and doctor bills, whether you're insured, underinsured, or uninsured. If we don't think we can help with a particular bill, we'll tell you up front.

Do you use AI?

We use software tools to help our team read bills and spot items worth a closer look. People on our team review the findings and do all of the communicating and negotiating with providers.

Should I stop paying my bill while you work on it?

Please don't ignore your bill. Before you join, check with the provider about your due date. Many billing offices will put an account on hold while it's under review if you ask, and we can help you make that request.

Is my information kept private?

Medical bills contain sensitive information. We only use it to review and negotiate your bill, and we don't sell your data. Our full privacy policy will be published before we start accepting bills.

Are you a law firm or insurance company?

No. Negotiate Bill is a billing advocacy service. We don't provide legal advice, and we can't change your insurance coverage. If your situation needs a lawyer, we'll tell you.
